Low FODMAP Diet by Metagenics

A FODMAP diet is used to assist in management of medically diagnosed irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

IBS is a very common gut dysfunction with symptoms which may including abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence and changes in bowel habits.

A low FODMAP diet is a diet that eliminates or restricts foods that are high in FODMAPs (fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols). FODMAPs are a group of short-chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed by the small intestine. In some people, FODMAPs can cause digestive problems such as bloating, gas, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

A low FODMAP diet is often recommended for people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but it may also be helpful for other people with digestive problems.
