Test for Arthritis, Joint pain, Inflammation

Inflammatory arthritis is joint inflammation caused by an overactive immune system. It usually affects many joints throughout the body at the same time but could involve just one joint. Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a cytokine that is synthesised by many cell types in the body.

It plays a modulatory role in immune responses and can indicate that the immune system is being activated. Interleukin 6 may be raised in inflammation, infection, autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular disease and some cancers.
