Alchemy of Health Webinar Series – Novel Natural Strategies for the Aging Brain
Understanding the Mind’s Decline: A practical guide to cognition decline, Dementia and Alzheimer’s
Why is it important?
Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are neurodegenerative disorders characterized by progressive cognitive decline. Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, is caused by the buildup of amyloid plaques and tau tangles in the brain.
The various subtypes of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common type of dementia, manifests as memory loss, confusion, behavioural change, and the loss of body control.
Neuroinflammation, a chronic inflammatory response in the brain, plays a significant role in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. It can lead to neuronal damage, oxidative stress, and impaired synaptic function.
Cognitive decline is a complex and chronic process that develops silently over many years and often decades. Early detection with Neuropsychological assessments, Cognoscopy, gene mutations and its biological drivers is crucial for effective management.
Treatment requires a multimodal approach. Current medications offer limited benefit in treating cognitive decline. With an in-depth understanding of the types and mechanisms of mental decline together with biochemical imbalances, one can adopt natural strategies and take proactive steps to protect the brain and reduce the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
